It all began in Beechworth, Victoria. In 2004, restraunteurs Lisa Pidutti and Rocco Esposito fulfilled their dream of moving to the country from Melbourne and creating a place that combined their passion for food and wine. With hard graft and late nights, they built one of Beechworth’s most celebrated restaurants.
Five years later, they sold up to be with their children and connect to their home, farm and land in Beechworth. Project Forty Nine wines followed, producing a wine and brand that simply reflects the characteristics and biodiversity of their much loved region.
The success of Project Forty Nine wine has allowed Lisa and Rocco to establish their farm and commit themselves to organic and biodynamic farming methods. Valuing seasonality, balance, diversity and humanity, the principals are to source produce that is farmed locally, grown sustainability and sold in their stores.
Today, Beechworth and Collingwood are the ultimate expression of Project Forty Nine’s connection to the land. It has given Lisa and Rocco a life they love, and they endeavour to give back to it with everything they do.
